Visiting family and taking baby to Florida beaches is fun! And of course we brought a lot of stuff with us. Here is what I particularly like and what turned out not to be so useful.
1) IPlay baby short-sleeved two-piece swim suit and a big rim hat
The bottoms are so easy to put on thanks to snaps on one side and they also serve as a diaper. The whole swim suit is UV50 so it’s supposed to protect against the sun.
Overall it’s very useful, comfortable and easy to wash. We also have a regular Target swim suit but it’s not UV-protected and it requires a diaper so we didn’t use it.
The hat also has UV protection and a wide rim appropriate for Florida sun but my daughter keeps taking it off so it’s difficult to keep it on. It’s very cute though.
2) Little jean hat by H&M
It’s cute and my daughter doesn’t take it off so it stays on her little head! It doesn’t have UV protection but it’s thick.
3) Baby beach tent (Sunsense)
Excellent purchase! Provides shade (SPF50 protection) and shelter for diaper changes and even breastfeeding. I also used it myself to change into my swim suit. Four stakes and four pockets to fill with sand keep it attached to the ground. It’s easy to assemble and dissassemble. My daughter enjoyed playing in it with her toys. It’s like a mini beach playpen.
4) Baby sunblock
A must for the baby in Florida. We apply the sunblock on the whole body as sunbeams go through the regular clothes. We are using Badger SPF30. It’s 98% organic. Application is easy and and it protects effectively against the sun. It’s water resistant for 40 minutes. We also bought Babyganics SPF50 in spray. It’s not organic but it’s mineral-based and has no phalates or parabens. It’s water-resistant for 80 minutes.
5) Baby sunglasses
We haven’t really used them as our daughter has a big hat that protects her face from the sun and she takes the sunglasses off anyway. And she prefers to play with daddy’s glasses instead;)
6) Summer rompers and light PJs
We have several rompers by different brands and they are the best and the cutest! My favorite brand is by Cracker Barrel. I put them on in seconds. We also brought light cotton two-piece PJs (by Carter’s) instead of “footies” and they worked out great. They come with short or long sleeves and long pants or shorts.
